Director's Reel 4:30 If you're not the type to scroll down and click on one video after another, this compilation will give you a pretty good idea of the kind of thing I've been doing the last couple years. And if there's anything you love and need to see more of, you can find it a la carte below. Hot Chicks: Trailer V/A 1:45 This feature anthology celebrates the work of Jack Chick, the legendary Evangelistic cartoonist whose work has been inspiring and/or outraging people around the world for almost 50 years. 9 filmmakers, including yours truly, interpreted his tracts in a variety of styles and attitudes and this is the result - 100 minutes (!) of Chick Flicks. World premiere at the L.A. Film Festival. Visit the official site of the Hot Chicks and learn the whole story!

EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 : Sweet Dreams Transistor Studios 0:30 This psychedelic boxing opus was the product of one pleasant day in the stage and a month in a dark, low ceilinged room in front of glowing computer screens. The dream / hallucination / brain-damage sequence in here might make a little more sense when you realize that he needs to 'float with the butterfly so he doesn't get stung by the bees.' The ocean was something of an engineering miracle, a 25-foot water tank built in a few hours, which is a nice contrast to the butterfly which you can find for about 10 bucks in Chinatown. Update: Debuted at number 1 on the ad critic so congrats and thanks to Niki, Illick, and Aaron from WK.

The Hot Seat with Wally George! Intro Video Cultiplex Pictures International 2:30 Created to open the live-on-stage Wally George show performed monthly at the UCB Theater in Hollywood. We designed this one to emulate the look and feel of a show you might have stumbled onto at 2 in the morning while exploring the hinterlands of the UHF spectrum back in 1983. All in, the budget might've been over 100 dollars, but I like to think most all of it shows up on screen. Starring Josh Fadem as Wally George, with Chad Fogland, Alex Baker, Michael Busch, Wyatt Cenac, the names of this all-star cast go on and on. The rest of the behind the camera crew includes Eric Nordhauser, Eva Anderson, and Mr. Fadem. Bonus points to anyone who can guess which role I play. Shot on location in Echo Park at the fabulous Showcave Studios.

Buckethead w/ Serj Tankian : We Are One Bad Dog LTD 4:00 This horror/metal spectacular for the enigmatic guitar genius Buckethead celebrates his new record as well as Showtime's anthology series Masters of Horror and is a co-production (writing/directing/shooting/editing/etc/etc/etc) with old accomplice, Syd Garon. The Creature, aka "Patches" was created by Dirk and Caleb of Bad Acid Trip and for the record, his re-animated parts include Wolverine, Beaver, Convict, Porcupine, Lobster, Goat, and Bunny. Featuring cameos by all my favorite stars as well as Chop-Top (!) Amazingly enough it aired with all the severed limbs and rotting carcasses intact!

Baby Changes Everything: Open Titles Sam Brick Entertainment :20 This vaguelly Bewitched animated title sequence was an email collaboration with Miami's own postergirl Kristin Thiele . Working on opposite coasts, I'd download new drawings from her in the morning and have 'em animated by the end of day. This rush order was turned around in just under a week on my overworked laptop.
Bride of Ozzy: Children of the Grave | The Directors Bureau/Cultiplex Pictures International 6:50 Tracing a Heavy Metal curse forward and backward through time using an extended (critics might say belabored) quadruple-nested flashback sequence. Introducing Ms Buffy Visick!
F**** P***** | VH1 10:00 Pilot for a VH1 series. On hold, probably forever, but tests really, really well with people who watch it in my livingroom.
Emily Strange Presents: Night of the Living Strange | Cosmic Debris/Cultiplex Pictures International 4:00 The video version of a fotonovel®-style advertorial for Cosmic Debris in which a pair of girls blow off band practice, watch TV, eat cereal, and fight the undead. Featuring an original soundtrack by the Q Department.
Anti-Smoke: Cessation | The Directors Bureau :60 A very, very, slow-speed chase pitting 'man against addiction.' Or as Babelfish translates the German language site evil trash's link to it-'that is also ne loose kind as one searches, those one constantly pursued, loose will can mad tie-clip against that smoke more gibts on the side of rodney ashtray is worthwhile themselves.' This antismoking spot was a genuine highlight for me, even if my politically-minded pal Joel Lava is dubious of the whole idea.
Sony:Movies/Music/Video To Go: 30 | Sony:Movies/Music/Video To Go: 60 Mamma's Boy/Cultiplex Pictures International :30/:60 A co-creation with Jason Wishnow visualising the fantastic world of tomorrow in which you won't have to stop watching TV, even to ride on the bus. We've got two versions up here, the fast-paced 'get to the point' :30 and the extravagant, more performance-driven :60. Featuring Jenny Shimizu and Stephen Brophy & Chris Hobbs, two Fake Gallery superstars.
Hilton Garden Inn | Transistor Studios :30 I didn't direct this one, but I did handle all the After Effects work which was sort of tricky, seeing as how the whole clip is one long AE sequence. A collaboration with the talented people over at Transistor.
Totally Gay! | VH1/World of Wonder Opening, Closing, Interstitials Show open (seen here) plus a handful of short & sweet sequences illustrating both scandal and triumph scattered throughout this timely documentary directed by Wash Westmoreland. Now on DVD from those rabble rousers over at Disinformation.
Liz Phair: Down | The Directors Bureau 3:20 Shot on 50 rolls of still film in one day in Chinatown. Putting it together (with Trisha Golubev-Lerner) took a little longer.
Triumph of Victory: | The Directors Bureau/Walt Disney 4:00 How long does it take to fall 20,000 feet? Funny you should ask...
Gay Republicans | Trio Network/World of Wonder Opening, scattered graphics My contribution was relatively small, but congrats to Clements/Westmoreland/WoW on their award-winning political doc - a real Red-State/Blue-State crossover if ever there was one. Coming out soon on DVD.
VH1 News Presents: Plastic Surgery Obsession | VH1/World of Wonder :30 This self-contained bit within the special was envisioned as a peek at our own horribly beautiful future. Stop the madness!
Krispy Kreme: Statistics | Bad dog Ltd/NurEye Films :30 No, this is not stock footage - shot on location in North Miami with Louisa Van Leer.
Sparklehorse (with PJ Harvey): Piano Fire | The Directors Bureau According to the pitch - 'Cops meets Picnic at Hanging Rock.' The best part was we (that is me and Joe Gore got to create our own remix of the song.
Safetyman | Commissioned by Saturday Night Live, this short was the big debut of the eponymous stickman from all those safety stickers you see on construction equipment, soda machines, and hot water heaters. Let's hear it for Action Plus for the theme song!
Somebody Goofed | NurEye Films 9:00 The last great 'Rodney and Syd' production until a surprise pair of reunion projects (Buckethead and Titanic) in late '05. Watch the film and reflect on your own life. Have YOU goofed??? If you need more, check out Jack Chick's very own 'Light of the World' or the feature anthology, 'Hot Chicks.'
DJ Qbert's Wavetwisters: Grandpa Wears Fat Laces | Thud Rumble Productions 5:00 The penultimate chapter of 'DJ Qbert's Wavetwisters.' This chapter was a collaboration between myself, Syd Garon & Eric Henry (the creators of the film proper) Doug Cunningham (the illustrator) and others.
Night of the Living Dead: The Play | Cultiplex Pictures International 6:00 Direction/Photography/Post for the video components of a cleverly-staged (by Helena Nolan) live production of the classic horror movie at San Francisco's infamous SPANGANGA. This goes back to a little before Zack Snyder's (darn respectable) Dawn of the Dead remake if that makes this glitchy, static-filled version seem any less of a ripoff. This one cost about 50 bucks including the used hospital gowns that someone found at a thrift store for our zombies to wear.
Buddha Bar & Alfred | Early breakthroughs in the studies of Re-Animation®, or as some in the trade call it, 'Two and a Half - D.'

Store Wars Here's a trip in the 'wayback machine to what is was like when they first started making these 'prequel' thingies. A chapter in a 5-part documentary I did back at the end of the 20th century about human beings, inanimate objects, and what brings them together.
