BIOGRAPHY

Rodney Ascher is filmmaker/animator/etcetera whose work has screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival, the SFMOMA, Bay Area Now, the NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco Underground film festivals, Resfest, CineVegas, South by Southwest, the White Column Gallery and a funeral home in Baltimore. Not loyal to any one style, he has worked with animation, live action, documentary and puppetry. Often more than one within the same project.

He started his career as a storyboard artist in Miami, laying out hundreds of TV commercials and a handful of shot-in-South Florida action movies. At the same time, he and his friends were producing no-budget music videos for local punk rock bands and making arguably comic short films. Experience working on both ends of the food chain has proven invaluable as he went on to direct under the aegis of N Ur Eye Films (R.I.P), the Directors' Bureau and other fine American production companies.

Recent credits include the film festival favorite Hot Chicks, a pair of television pilots, and a wide variety of projects for clients including VH1, DirecTV, The Bravo Channel, Emily Strange, Buckethead, and EA Sports.
